Trick or Treat

Hailey showing Jacob how to do some
of her ballet moves she learned in her
dance class.

We went to Omi's (Kenzie's grandma's) house to meet for trick or treating. We all have been going there ever since Kenzie was a baby. We always go trick or treating around her neighborhood, and then we have chili afterwards. Omi always makes such good chili and homemade bread. My mom also brought butterhorns this year too which were really good. Omi and Nana gave the kids their bags of goodies from them right away, and Vikki had gotton trick or treat bags for each of the kids so they would all have matching bags. We got the kids ready when we got there and then headed out. It was misting for a while, but it wasn't too cold. Kimmy and I both thought it felt good to have the mist on our faces. The kids all had so much fun going up to all the doors and getting candy. They would all say trick or treat really loud when they got up to the door. Hailey was very excited and would always be the first to get to the doors. She would run ahead of us, and sometime she would even already have her candy by the time we got up to the door. Max kept trying to go into every house. After saying "trick or treat", he would look in and say "hi" to the other people and then go to step up to get inside. After they would put the candy in his bag, he would say "tanchew (thankyou)" and then reach into his bag to get the piece of candy out right away. Max and Hailey brought their pumkin flashlights and had fun with them while riding in the wagon between houses. Just a few minutes after Kimmy and I said that we weren't ready to go back yet, it started pouring. Good thing we brought a couple umbrellas. The kids stayed pretty dry cause they were all under the umbrellas, but the rest of us got soaked. (The picture of Bruce and I with the kids kind of shows how soaked we got. The rain made the picture a little blurry though.) Omi had towels ready for us to dry off, and then we had some nice warm chili. Of course, the all the kids had to eat some candy first. Right away they all say down on the floor with their bags of candy. Kenzie played her violin for us tonight and she's getting pretty good at it. She played a couple songs for us. Then she let Hailey try playing it, and she really liked it. Now she keeps asking us if she can take violin lessons too like Kenzie. When I was rocking Max tonight, Hailey walked in with her light up shoes which really light up in the dark. Bruce took them off of her and then decided to put on a "fireworks" show for us. He held them high above his head clapping them together to make them light up while making real sounding sound effects at the same time. He would make a loud boom sound, clap them together, and then while they were still twinkling he would bring them down slowly. It looked and sounded so real that Hailey started crying (she is a little scared of fireworks). Max kept saying "Wow" everytime. It was so funny cause they both thought it was real. I was laughing so hard. They sure have a talented daddy. Now we can have our own private fireworks show without even leaving the house.

I love the mirror pictures. What a good idea. Hailey (Lolly Pop)
looks like she's thinking "I'm the beautiful princess". Max looks like he's thinking, "Is that really me in there". Such cute expressions. Sure was a fun night. Love ya!

Great idea - love the mirror pictures. It was funny how we had just said we were ready to quit and agreed to go down another street - then came the pouring rain. I don't think we even made it to one more house.

You took some nice pictures too. I copied yours and Kimmy's so have a good collection now. I love the one of Bruce soaked. What dad's don't go through (and moms, and nana's, and aunts, and uncles) for their kids. Lots of fun memories! Love ya!

Yeh, if we would have listened to mom and Vikki instead of going down another street we probably wouldn't have gotton soaked. Oh well, it was all part of the fun getting soaked and all. I'll never forget this time trick or treating.

Mom - I think you, Vik, and Kenzie got there fast because you were carrying kids, pushing strollers, pulling wagons while trying to control an umbrella in the wind. Ha Ha Ha - ya left us in your dust. I thought it was great fun. I guess if we would have listened to you three we wouldn't have gotten caught in that rain.

Hey everybody, I added a few things so you should all read it again. I guess I was so tired after putting on so many pictures that I completely forgot a couple things last night. (Vikki thanks for getting those cute bags for the kids. They were really nice.)
