At snack time, Hailey asked if she could make "butterfly bread" (something she made at school). She told me all the things we would need - bread, butter, carrot sticks, and M&M's. (I didn't have any M&M's so we just used Skittles.) She said "OK, first we need butter the bread and then cut them into two triangles." She showed Max how to put them on his plate to make the wings. Then they added carrot sticks for the body and decorated the wings with the Skittles. She was very proud of herself for knowing how to make it and teaching it to us.

Max loved making his "butterfly".

Now time to eat it.

Abby's first bath, well her first bath at home anyway. (The breeder did give her a bath before we picked her up.)

She looks even smaller when she's wet.

Abby and Jack woke me up at 7:00 this morning. Hailey also must have heard Abby whimpering in her cage cause she came out shortly after. I fed Jack on the couch and Hailey cuddled with Abby at the other end. Max woke up at 8:00, The kids took turns cuddling with Abby while we watched Curious George. Abby fell right asleep on their laps. She is so cuddly. The kids just love her. After watching Curious George and Sid The Science Kid, the kids had fun playing with Abby. They ran back and forth and Abby chased them. They were laughing so hard and Abby's tail was really wagging. Jack thought it was funny too and was laughing at them. After breakfast, I put Jack on the floor to play. Abby kept coming up to him and he would reach out to touch her and then lean over to give her kisses (with mouth wide open). When Abby would walk away from him, he would start crying. Then as soon as Abby walked back up to him, he would smile and was happy again. He did this many times today. I took the kids outside to play after lunch. Abby didn't like to be down, maybe because of the wind. We went to store when Bruce got home from work. We gave all the kids baths tonight, including Abby. First Hailey and Max, then Jack, and then Abby. Abby actually seemed to really like her bath. She was very good about getting brushed too. She layed right back on my lap as I brushed her. She especially liked having her belly brushed. She didn't like the blow dryer much though. She acted a little scared of it. She was very playful after she was all done.

Today, it was finally warm enough to take Abby outside to play for awhile. Once she got used to the grass, she loved running around chasing the kids. She doesn't like being on her leash though. She refuses to walk with her leash on, she will just sit there until we take it off. She seemed to really enjoy being outside until she got cold and started shivering. Then I wrapped her in a blanket for awhile to warm her up. Once she stopped shivering for awhile, I put her back down to play. She ran around some more with the kids. Then we took her over to the neighbors house. The kids were excited to show Ken and Connie our new puppy. Connie came out with her slippers on and Abby cuddled right up ontop of them. I think she was starting to get cold again and liked the warm slippers. Connie took one of her slippers off and put it in front of Abby saying she could probably fit right inside it. We all laughed when Abby climbed in and layed down. She fit perfectly and just curled right up and got comfortable.

Jack enjoyed watching the puppy from in the stroller.
Hailey drew this picture of the Bible story about Jacob's dream. She said "It's Jacob, you know in the Bible. And that's the ladder that goes all the way up to Heaven. And that's the angel climbing up and down the ladder. Cause he dreamed that." Then she ran and got her Bible and asked me to find that story and read it to her.

Jack is now facinated with the sunshining in through the windows onto the floor in the morning. He always crawls right to it and then reaches his hand out to "touch" it. Then he'll crawl putting his face into it.

The kids absolutely love their new puppy and want to hold her all the time. She sleeps alot right now so she's quite happy to snuggle up on their laps.

Hailey holding Abby while watching TV this morning.

Max's turn now. He gets so happy and smiles so big when it's his turn to hold her.

Hailey and Max both love when she falls asleep on them.

Hailey with her "wedding dress and wedding flowers".

Sound asleep on daddy's lap.

We put the puppy in her cage before we went to bed last night. She cried for a few minutes but soon fell asleep in her bed. She slept until about 2am when she woke us all up crying very loudly. I got up to take her potty and hold her for a little bit. She was very happy to see me and wagged her tail. After a few minutes I put her back into her cage. She layed in her bed crying again. I opened the door of the cage and pet her while she layed in her bed. She quieted down and fell asleep but as soon as I stopped petting her and walked away, she woke up crying again. She did this until 3am, waking Hailey and Jack up. She sure gets loud when she cries. The kids think it's funny. Max said "Do our puppy knows how to sing?" It does sound like it. As soon as the kids woke up this morning, they both wanted to hold the puppy. I had to set the timer so I didn't have to listen to any fighting over who got to hold her the longest. The puppy sure has a great personality. She is so happy and playful. She loves to chase the kids around when they run. It's so funny when she runs and crawls right under Jack while he's crawling along on the floor. She'll just come running through under his belly and out under his arms. She also loves to follow me all around the house. We have to be careful not to step on her cause she likes to get under our feet and she is so tiny. Max got out all his matchbox cars to play with and lined them up at the end of the living room, like he usually does. Only this time, Jack came crawling over and kept trying to get them. Max called me over saying "Mommy, Jack's gettin my cars! He's gonna choke!" I picked Jack up and moved him back over to the middle of the living room and gave him a car that was safe to chew on. But it wasn't long before he was making his way back over to get Max's cars. Max again called me over to come get him. He then said to me "He keeps movin, Mommy!" (I guess he's still not used to Jack being able to move around now. And this was the first time Jack has tried getting something Max was playing with. Max sure did have a surprised look on his face as he watched Jack slowly make it over to his cars. But not only does he just not want Jack to mess his cars up, he does really think that Jack could choke on them. I have taught him to make sure he keeps his toys with small pieces or anything not safe to chew on away from Jack. He knows he has to play away from Jack with them and is very good about it.) I helped Max move all his cars to the hallway and made a "gate" with the kids chairs to block Jack from getting through. Max was happy to be in a spot that Jack couldn't mess his cars and said "Cause we don't want Jack to choke. No we don't." Hailey was having a rough day today and had to go to the "naughty spot" three times, very unusual for her. (I think she just didn't get enough sleep last night. It took her longer to fall asleep from being excited about the puppy and then the puppy ended up waking her in the middle of the night too which she again had a hard time falling back asleep.) Later this evening, she started acting very sweet and nice. She came up to us and said "I'm sorry for the naughty things I did today." Then she gave Daddy and I each a hug and a kiss and said "I love you". Her and Max sat at the table drawing and coloring with crayons. After showing me the picture she had made, she went over to Max who was still drawing at the table. She pointed to his picture and said "Wow, did you make this?" That is so cool!" Max replied "It is?" Then she said "You are so big." And Max said "Wah, I am." Then she said "I love you Max. Sorry for being naughty to you today." Max replied "Haywee, you are nice. I wuv you and I wike you." Even though we always have the kids say they are sorry before they can get up out of the "naughty spot", we thought it was very nice that she still decided all on her own to come tell us all she was sorry when she truly meant it. Bruce and I both looked at each other very surprised because it was a few hours after she had even gotten in trouble. Once we got the kids tucked in bed, Bruce and I sat on the floor and played with the puppy. She likes chasing her toys as we drag them along the floor. Then we took turns holding her while we watched some TV. She ended up falling asleep on Bruce's lap.

Our New Puppy!

This is how she rode most of the two hour drive back. She slept just about the entire trip, only waking to give me a couple kisses on the cheek.

Hailey was so excited to see her new puppy and wanted to hold her right away.

Her and Jacob sat on the couch petting and holding her.

They wrapped her up in a blanket like a baby.

Max sure loved her too and didn't stop smiling as he held her.

Hailey held her on the drive to Nana's house to pick up Jack. She had her wrapped in a blanket again and Abby fell asleep as soon as we started driving.

Hailey couldn't wait to show everybody when we got there.

Max leaning over to tell Grandpa "You don't hab any hair."

Jack kept crawling over to her and giving her hugs.

Everybody took a turn holding her, even Papa.

After getting Jack buckled in his carseat, we let him hold her.

Daddy enjoyed some playing playing with her when we got home.

Ready for bed.

We all woke up very excited this morning as we will be getting our new puppy today. We quickly got ready and then left to go take Jack to Nana's house. She will be watching him for the day while we go pick up the puppy. Around 9:30, we headed over to meet Kimmy and Jared at Salvation Army. They will be watching Hailey and Max. (The breeder does group pickups only and also goes over alot of information, kind of like a puppy care class, so they asked that anyone with kids get a babysitter.) The kids were all very excited to see each other. And Hailey and Max were excited to get to ride in Aunt Meme and Uncle Jared's van. As soon as Hailey and Max got in the van, Jacob asked them if they wanted a piece of his donut. He had saved some of it just so he could share with them. He broke it into pieces and handed them out. He couldn't reach Max in his carseat so he gave it to his mommy to give to him. When Aunt Meme handed him his piece, Max told her "You're nice to me." The kids waved and blew kisses out the window to us. Then we were on our way. It was about a two hour drive to get there. It really was out in the middle of nowhere. We came through a very small town and knew it was the last chance we would have to eat lunch so we stopped at the little restaurant. We got hamburgers and fries. It didn't take us too long from there. They had us come in and sit at the dining room table. There was about five other couples there to pick up puppies too. The breeder handed out some papers for us to fill out and some information packets. She went over a bunch of things with all of us. One guy said "I think I'm more nervous bringing home this puppy than I was our first baby." Then she brought us out our puppies. I just fell in love with her the moment I saw her. She was so sweet. Right away she cuddled up into my chest and fell asleep. She slept most of the way home too. On the ride, she woke up just to give me a couple kisses on my cheek and then fell back to sleep. We decided to name her Abby Doll (one of the many names Hailey liked). When we got to Aunt Meme's to pick up the kids, around 4:30, Hailey was so excited to see her new puppy. She asked to hold her right away. Her and Jacob sat on the couch petting and holding her. They wrapped her up in a blanket like a baby. Max was taking a nap. After a little while we woke him up and when he saw the puppy, he said "Did you get me a new puppy? Is dat my new witto (little) puppy?" He also kept asking if she was a "gwreel" (girl). He sat down on the floor and held her. He pet her so gently and said "She's cute." Hailey, Max, and Jacob all sat on the floor with their feet together and made a big circle for the puppy to run around in. Then they took turns calling her to get her to come to them. They were all so gentle and careful with her. Adam woke up from his nap and smiled when he came out and saw the puppy. It took him a few minutes but soon he was holding and petting her too. He would look up and smile at us while he was holding her. We left around 5:30 to go pick up Jack. Hailey held the puppy on the way. The puppy again fell asleep as soon as we started driving. Max said "I wuv my new witto (little) puppy. Wah, I do." Grandpa and Vikki and her family were all there waiting to see the new puppy. They all thought Abby was so cute. Everyone took a turn holding her. Jack really liked the puppy too and kept reaching out to pet her. He'd crawl over and give her hugs when she was on the floor. While Grandpa was sitting on the couch and Max was standing up next to him, he said "You don't hab any hair." It was so funny. Max leaned right over into grandpa's face to say it. We were all laughing and we even got it on video. We ate dinner before we left (Thanks mom!). Max took a turn holding her in the van. When we got home, we gave the puppy some food and she ate it all. Then we all sat on the living room floor to play with her. Hailey and Max each gave her the toy that they had bought for her. They had fun playing with her and having her chase their toys. The puppy really loves the kids, even Jack. She reminds me of Champ how she just goes up to give Jack kisses and then lays right by him. While I was feeding Jack, she crawled right up onto his blankie on top of his belly and fell asleep. Jack kept stopping to look over and smile at her. Before getting the kids ready for bed, we let them open their Easter goodie bags that they got in the mail today from Grandma Brenda and Papa Dan. They ate a couple pieces of candy and then had fun running around the house with their pinwheels for awhile. Jack would really get laughing hard whenever Hailey held her pinwheel out for him to see. When we tucked the kids in bed, I took the puppy in to say goodnight to them and let them cuddle with her for a few minutes. They really enjoyed that. Max said "I wuv my new witto puppy. She is nice." After getting the kids all tucked in bed, Bruce and I enjoyed playing with Abby. She chased her sock around and played with her little toys. She was very playful. Now she is all tired out and sleeping on Bruce's lap on the couch.
