Max woke up at 7:30 this morning and came running into our room. I had the monitor on and heard him waking up. Usually he lays there and talks for a little while before calling me but this morning I heard him whisper something and then he got out of bed and quickly came running to tell me to get up. He didn't even want to cuddle on the couch with me like he usually does. He just wanted to play with his cars. As soon as Bruce got home from work this morning, we got ready and went to a couple garage sales. Since we were out that way, we drove by the house that I grew up in to show Hailey. She loves hearing stories about when I was little and really enjoyed seeing where I used to live when I was her age. On our way back, we stopped at a farm to buy some meat and eggs. They let us walk the kids around the farm to see all the animals. Their favorite was a very friendly donkey that they got to pet through the fence. They also enjoyed petting the cats. Everytime the goat, donkey, or cats sniffed Max's hand he would say "Oh, he bite me." He would quick pull his hand back but then go right back to petting them. He really thought it was quite funny when the donkey would dig his foot into the dirt and would laugh really hard every time. He would say "Dat donkey punny. He diggen in da dirt." When we got home, we got the grill out and made some hamburgers. They were very good. We played with the kids outside for awhile before Bruce went to bed and Max took his nap. We got a thunderstorm with some hail. Max took a three hour nap and I had to wake him up. We went back outside to play this afternoon. The kids played in the sand and rode their bikes. It was still really warm out so we had popsicles and then got swimsuits on. Hailey pretended to be a dolphin, and she had Max and I doing hand motions to get her to do tricks. Max really enjoyed this game and quickly learned the hand motions she showed him to get her to do what he wanted. He liked getting her to come to the edge of the pool so he could pet her.

Max singing "My Heart Says I Love You" to daddy

Max sings this song to us all the time now. Many times throughout the day, he will just come up to one of us and then start singing it to us. It is so sweet. Yesterday, while Hailey was playing, he squatted down in front of her and started singing it to her. And the other day, when we were visiting grandpa, he asked to give him another kiss and then sang it to him.

Videos of Max bowling

More videos of the kids bowling

Max woke up early again but didn't come out of his bedroom until daddy went in to get him. The kids helped Daddy get the fountain set up this morning. Then I got their swimsuits on and let them swim until lunch time. After lunch we went bowling. Hailey was very excited to use her bowling coupons she got from Nana. They were both getting the ball and taking it up by themselves. Eeverytime Max picked up the ball, he would say "I strong". Then after taking his turn, he would come back holding his arms up saying "I super strong. I throw it really super past, just wike daddy." After he bowled once, he would say "I gotta do it again, one more time." And after his second turn he would say "You turn" pointing to me. He kept asking who's turn it was and when we would tell him, he would go to that person and point at them saying "You turn". They had so much fun. Hailey wanted to bring her wallet and use her dollars for lemonaid and a treat. Max brought his wallet too. They loved putting their dollars into the machine and picking their treat. Hailey picked Cheese Itz and Max picked Reeses candies, and they both ended up sharing them. We went to grandpas to check the garden. Max cried when we left because he wanted to go in and see grandpa. He is camping with my parents so he wasn't there, and Max was pretty upset about it. When we got home, we got out the big tarp to get the mulberries for making our favorite jam. Hailey and Max liked helping with the tarp. Bruce and I ran with the tarp so it would fly over them and they thought that was really fun. They would both run underneath it laughing really hard. After doing that a few times, we spread the tarp under the tree and Bruce climbed up to shake it. The kids liked watching daddy up in the tree and thought it was pretty funny. Then they played on the swings and in the sandbox. It was very hot out so I grabbed a few handfuls of ice and threw them in the sandbox for them to play with. They thought it was so neat to play with the ice cubes in the sand. They were very interested in feeling the difference between the ice before and after putting it in the sand. They really inspected it for a while before playing with it. Max like putting them in his tractors and dumping them into the dumptruck. Hailey burried them and pretended to dig for dinasour bones. When the ice melted, Max went to pick it up and said "Where it go?" He just couldn't figure out why it had suddenly disappeared. I kept telling him it melted but he didn't quite get it. He just kept saying "Huh?" and asking where it went. We decided to just have sandwiches for dinner, so we spread a blanket in the grass and had a little picnic. We had icecream cones for desert. Hailey and Max kept giving each other bites of their icecream. It was cute to watch them feeding each other. Then the kids rode their bikes until bedtime. Since Max didn't get a nap today, I put him to bed at 7:30. Hailey stayed outside with daddy while I took Max inside. He was very tired and happy to get in his bed.
