We got a call from my mom this morning telling us that grandpa was in the hospital. He took a bad fall a couple days ago and had to go to the emergency room for X-rays. Nothing was broken, just bruised pretty bad. They sent him home with a walker and some pain medicine. The medicine made him really restless though and he couldn't sit still. He paced back and forth with his walker all day and night till 2:30 in the morning, so they had to go back to the ER. After trying a few different medicines, they finally got him settled down so he could rest. They are keeping him for observation. They said he'll have to stay for at least 24 hours up to a week. At least he is finally getting some rest now. Bruce started working on the utility room again right away this morning. He ended up taking the day off of work so he could get more done. Max did super good going on the potty today. He stayed dry for about 4 hours straight this morning. He loves getting his smiley face stickers to put on his chart, and he always picks a yellow one, until they are all gone and then he'll settle for another color. He also always picks the Cars underwear first. He loves Lightning McQueen and Mater and now knows both their names. He picked out the Bob the Builder overalls and asked to wear them today. As soon as I put them on him, he ran over to the toy box and got out the yellow hat. He put it on and said "I Bob da Builder". My mom stopped by on her way home from the hospital. The kids were excited to see her. After we ate lunch, I put Max down for his nap and had Hailey lay down to. She woke up a couple times last night, so she was pretty tired. I set the timer for an hour and told her she had to lay down until she heard it beep. She ended up falling asleep pretty quickly though. We decided to have Kenzie spend the night so she wouldn't have to spend so much time up at the hospital. Hailey was excited to see that she was over when she woke up from her nap. They played with the dollhouse and the dolls until we had to leave for dance class. We asked Kenzie if she wanted to stay and earn a little money and help watch Max, so Bruce could continue working on the utility room. She said yes and I think it made her feel really good that she could help out. She did really good keeping him entertained. When Bruce was done, he had her and Max use the leaf blower to blow all the dust off of him. They thought it was funny and Kenzie was excited to tell me about it when we got back from dance class. On our way home from dance class, I took Hailey to the dollar store to spend a couple of her dollars. I had her take two of her dollars out of her wallet before we went in. She found four things that she wanted but knew she could only pick two things cause she had two dollars. So she picked the two that she wanted most and took it up to the counter. I lifted her up so she could pay herself. She handed the cashier the money right away before giving him the things she wanted to buy. He laughed and asked to see the stuff she was holding. Then he told her how much it cost and she gave him the money. When he handed her the bag, she said "thankyou". She did such a good job and she was very proud of herself. As we were walking out of the store, she said "I can pay by myself now cause I'm four. Only big girls can do that." She was excited to tell daddy that she payed by herself and then showed him the stuff she bought with her money. She bought a bag of felt craft sheets with shiney glitter spots on it and some shiney stickers. She wanted to cut up one of the felt pieces right away when we got home. While I was getting Max to bed, Kenzie and Hailey played with the rice. I let Hailey stay up an hour past her bedtime since she took a good nap today. Bruce went to the store for a few things and then came back with pizza and cinnamon sticks. Hailey and Kenzie stayed up and ate some pizza with us and then I got them ready for bed. Before Kenzie went to bed, I gave her a little money for helping out with Max, and she was so happy and told me how much she had saved up now. I could tell that Max really enjoyed his time with Kenzie. He just loves kenzie now and wanted to show her everything. He kept going up to her and showing her things saying "Tee Chenjie". (I love how he says her name. That's the best I can do spelling it how he says it.) He also followed her everywhere wanting to play with her the whole time. Usually Kenzie and Hailey just play together and Max plays by himself out in the living room when she is over. But this time he just wanted to be right by her. He even sat on Hailey's bed while they were playing with dolls and talked to Kenzie the whole time.
