Max and I sat on the couch and watched Curious George this morning before getting ready for church. He was up at 7:30 again. Hailey had a hard time waking up this morning. I tried waking her three times before she finally got out of bed. She kept falling back asleep. Bruce had to work, so he couldn't go to church with us. When I went to pick up Hailey from her class, she didn't even want to leave. She was helping the teacher clean up, so I waited for a few minutes while she finished helping the teacher. When we got home, I fed the kids some lunch and then put them both down for naps. When Bruce got home, we got ready to go to the live nativity put on by one of the churches in the area. This was our third year going, and it is one of our favorite things to do this time of year now. Hailey was very excited to go cause she remembered going last year. First, we sit in the church and sing Christmas carols. The kids love it when the angel shines on the ceiling and tells us about the baby. They really think it is a real angel. Then a shephard takes us outside to walk to Bethlehem. They have fires along the way to warm up by and other shephards tell us about what they heard. As we continue walking, soldiers yell at us telling us to hurry up so we can pay our taxes. We all go into a tent where the soldiers stamp our cencus record that they give everyone. The kids think the soldiers are a little scary, but it makes the whole thing seem more real. Then when we walk through the city, a bunch of people try to sell us things like animals, bread, and other things. We are supposed to be poor shephards so we have to tell them no. The kids like it cause they get to pet all the animals. They have sheep, chickens, rabbits, a camel, and a donkey for them to pet. Then we come to the inn, and they have some of the kids knock on the door. He tells us their is no room, so we move on, and come to the stable where we see Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. Then we walk to another building to have cookies and hot chocolate. Hailey, Max, and Jacob had so much fun running around in circles after they ate their cookies. Bruce took Max and Hailey up to watch the lady playing the piano before we left. They stayed and watched for quite a while. As we were walking out, Bruce tripped over a fire and his pant leg caught on fire. The flames went up to the bottom of his coat. He was carrying Max and didn't see it. I freaked out and couldn't even speak to tell him. He got the fire out and didn't get hurt. He said that his pants just felt a little hot all of a sudden. We had a good laugh on the way home about it. Hailey talked about the live nativity until she went to bed. She also had lots of questions for us.

Whats the deal with you guys and fire. Last year it was you I had to pull away from the fire. Glad no one was hurt. Now we can laugh. Jacob just called me to his bedroom and growled like the solders.

I know, we were just talking about how I almost tripped over the fire and then Bruce catches on fire. Now I can laugh about it, but it sure scared me when it happened. I can't believe he didn't get burned. Hailey is still talking about the solders and everything too.
