Day 1 (Camping)

The kids love to watch daddy shave in the morning. And he always puts some shaving cream on their cheeks too.

Max was a little grumpy by 8:00. He didn't get a nap at all today and he is usually in bed by then. But we wanted him to be able to have smores with us. I thought his pout face in this picture was kind of cute.

He sure was a happy boy while eating his smore, but as soon as I brought him back into the camper he got grumpy again.

This morning, Hailey's preschool teacher came over for a home visit. Hailey was really excited about meeting her. Of course, she was real quiet at first and it took a little while for her to warm up to her. The teacher brought a picture book to show her some of the different things they do in preschool. Hailey really liked looking at it and started asking some questions. Max started talking to the teacher as soon as she got through the door and he talked to her the whole time. He would get right up close to her face to tell her things. He told her all about how we were going camping. He also kept saying he wanted to go to school too. While the teacher talked to Bruce and I, she kept the kids well entertained with a sticker book for each of them. She sat on the floor by them and let them each pick what color book (a few pages of construction paper stapled together) they wanted. Right away Max said he wanted yellow. And Hailey picked pink, her favorite color. Then as she was talking and answering our questions, every once in a while, she would pull out a bag of stickers and let them pick one to put in their book. She had a bunch of bags and the kids sat quietly waiting to see what the next set of stickers were (Each bag had a different set of stickers in them, like stars, hearts, flowers, etc.) It sure did keep them occupied while we talked. After awhile, Max started getting impatient and told her "We have to leave now. We gotta go camping." She was already just about to leave, but thought it was funny how he was trying to rush her out. It was around 11:30 when we left. We stopped at McDonald's for lunch on the way. We went inside to eat and then let the kids run around in the grass outside while I fed Jack in the van. Daddy and the kids had fun running back and forth and playing follow the leader. We got to the campground around 3:30. It didn't take long for Hailey to start playing with her cousins, Delainey and Kenedy. They are all very close in age and had alot of fun together. It was nice cause we all had our campers parked in a big circle, so the kids could play and go to each others campers and we could all keep an eye on them. We were also right across from the playground. Papa Dan took the kids to play while we got our camper set up. After getting things unpacked and the beds made, we went for a walk to the camp store. We let the kids pick out some candies. The cashier gave them each their own little brown bag which they thought was so special. When we got back, Hailey begged to go to the playground again, so Grandma Brenda took them. They had fun getting pushes on the tire swing. Before getting the kids ready for bed, we let them sit out by the campfire and roast marshmellows. We made smores, which Hailey had been asking all day when we were going to make smores. She was so excited to eat one. Max complained a little about his hands being dirty at first but soon forgot about it and ate the whole thing. Max was very tired and ready for bed. Hailey stayed out by the campfire with daddy while I put Max and Jack to bed. When I got Hailey's pajamas out and she saw that they were the ones with footies, she said "Oh, I love yum yums!" Then she asked me to get her with them. So I put my hands inside the footies and tickled her and she was laughing so hard. Then she looked up at me and said "Mommy, I love you."

Its funny how Max tried to rush Hailey’s teacher along. Love the pouting picture of Max. That doggie outfit looks adorable on Jack. Its so funny that Hailey calls the num nums “yum yums”. I'm glad you were able to get these days posted.
