Max's Birthday Party

I went online and found some ideas for his cake. I took ideas from a few different cakes and combined them. I think it turned out pretty cute. Max sure liked it. He was so excited to see the race cars and road. And he really liked the "wheels" (chocolate covered pretzels).

Hailey showing me her gift for Max. She wrapped it by herself. She cut a small strip of wrapping paper and taped it on. She told me it was "a balloon present".

Playing with his cars that I had set out on the table for decoration.

Hailey having fun playing in the tunnel Max got for his birthday while he finished opening presents.

The house was all decorated when Max woke up from his nap. He didn't even notice any of the decorations though at first because he was so excited to see it snowing out the window. We had to tell him to turn around and look. Then he was very excited and said "Dere's lots and lots of Light NcKween in our house!" A little while later, Nana, Papa, and Grandpa showed up and we had roast, carrots, and potatoes for dinner. While we were eating, Max wanted all the toy cars to face him on the table to watch him eat. I had just put them on for decoration and had them facing all different directions. He said "But dey not watchin me." Hailey decided he should open presents before eating cake and icecream. She wanted him to open hers first. She was really excited to give it to him. She was so cute helping him open it, explaining that it was a "balloon present", and then reading her card to him. After opening the trucks she got him, he took them to go play with them forgetting that there was more presents to open. We talked him into putting them down to open more presents. But then after opening his garbage truck, he didn't want to open any more after that. He just wanted to keep playing with it. We had to keep talking him into opening another present, and each time he opened one he would go right back to playing with the garbage truck. After he finally opened all his presents, Hailey stood on her stool and asked if we were ready for cake and icecream. She was quite the little party planner. Max hadn't seen the cake yet and was very excited when we brought it out and he saw the cars on it. He excitedly said "Race cars!" He also loved the road and the wheels on the cake. He sang along as we all sang "Happy Birthday" to him. After eating cake and iceream, he played with his new toys until bedtime. He loved his cars that he can take apart and put together. He liked taking all the wheels off and putting them into the garbage truck, making it dump them into the back. He was having so much fun with all his new toys that he didn't want to go to bed. (He is not one that usually cries when it's bedtime. Normally he can't wait to get in bed.) He had a meltdown because he didn't want to stop playing. After much crying, we told him that his cars were tired and needed to take a rest too. And that was all it took. He stopped crying and said he wanted to put his cars night night. He set them on the table and gave them all kisses goodnight. Then on his way to the bathroom to brush his teeth, he decided to run and go hide in his new tunnel. (We couldn't get him to go in it earlier because he was having too much fun playing with his garbage truck and cars.) He was happy when daddy let him brush his teeth in the tunnel and then came out to get ready for bed. All day Hailey was telling Max nice things like "I love you... Your a great brother... You're a cool brother... You're awesome." She was being so sweet with him all day. While we were tucking him in bed, she came in to give him a hug and kiss goodnight and said "Goodnight Max. I love you. You're a awesome brother."
