Happy Birthday Hailey!!!

Hailey asked to get in the crib with Jack when he woke up from his nap. He sure was happy to see her and was full of smiles.

Hailey fell asleep with her new doll that she adopted.
After her nap, she was excited to see it was all decorated for her party. She put on her party hat on right away.

Max liked trying to knock the cup over with the blow thing.

She was very excited to get her 5 year old birthday girl. She just loves these glass collectible dolls that Nana gets for her every year. On her second birthday, it was the first thing she opened and she didn't even want to go on and open her other gifts. She played with it and wrapped it in tissue paper pretending it was her blanket. It took quite awhile for us to finally talk her into letting Grandma hold it while she opened the rest of her gifts. And ever since then, she just loves them and looks forward to getting the next one. She is always asking me to get them down off her shelf so she can look at them. She likes seeing how they "grow bigger" each year and always says "I wonder how big the five year old (or whatever age is next) will be."

She wanted a "kitty birthday" this year, so we made her a paw print cake to go with the kitty plates she had picked out.

Daddy's girl.

I let her play her new Leapster game while getting Max ready for bed. While brushing his teeth, Max saw her in our bedroom and ran in to see what she was doing. He climbed up by her and watched while she played. It was cute to listen to her explaining how to play the game to him.

This morning, I woke Hailey up for school, singing Happy Birthday to her. She popped right up and was very excited to be five years old now. She was so excited last night that she didn't sleep well and kept waking up coming into our bedroom. I was surprised that she woke up so fast this morning and didn't act tired. Nana came to take Hailey to school and help in her class. Daddy had jury duty so he couldn't be the helper like he was supposed to. Hailey thought it was fun to have Nana come help in her class. Hailey was so happy when she saw her birthday treats on the counter when she came out to eat breakfast. She really liked that I cut heart shapes out of the rice krispy treats and put pink frosting on them. They turned out really cute. I got the house cleaned and some stuff ready for the party while she was in school. I helped Max make a card and wrap his gift for her. He seemed really excited to give it to her. When Hailey got home from school, she told me that all the kids loved the pink heart treats, even the boys. She told me they all wanted two and were begging for more. She was also excited to show me her birthday pin she got from her teacher (she crochets each kid in the class a little pin to wear in class on their birthdays). Hailey kept asking what time her party was. Bruce got to come home early. He came home just in time for lunch. We ate lunch and then I put Hailey and Max down for naps. Hailey fell asleep pretty quickly. She slept with her baby. I noticed Jack wasn't acting himself and was much more sleepy than usual. He slept 10 hours straight last night. When he woke up this morning, he just ate and fell right back asleep, sleeping a few more hours. He woke up really smiley and I layed him on the floor to play but he fell asleep again after just a few minutes of laying there. I moved him to his bed and noticed he was feeling pretty warm. I took his temperature and it was 102.3 degrees. Gave him some Tylenol. He kept falling asleep on and off as we were holding him and even when he was down playing. He would be smiling one minute and closing his eyes the next. He had a big poopy diaper that leaked through, so I had Bruce pick up some Pedialyte. He didn't like the taste so I gave him little bits at a time through an eye dropper. The Tylenol only took his temperature down a little bit, so when it was time for the next dose I tried Motrin instead. He started doing much better after that and stayed awake for a couple hours this evening. When Hailey woke up she was excited to see all the decorations. She kept asking how long till everyone got here. After I told her only an hour, she kept asking every couple minutes "Now how many more minutes?" She was so excited when Nana, Papa, and Grandpa pulled in the driveway. We ate roast for dinner. Hailey loved her "Nana's buns (rolls)". She kept saying that roast was her favorite. She wanted to open presents before eating cake and icecream. She loved everything she got, her doll clothes, birthday girl, Leapster game, and bike. She was also excited about getting money for the bank from Grandpa. After opening all her gifts and playing with them for a little bit, we brought out the cake. She loved her paw print cake and blew out all the candles. She didn't want any help form Max. After that the kids had fun throwing balloons around. Papa said it was time for hide and seek and told Max to count. He closed his eyes and counted to ten. But he just couldn't help but peek by the time he got to six. It was so funny cause he was really trying hard not to but kept opening his eyes just a little and turning his head and then would quick turn it back and continue counting. The kids had fun finding Papa. It was such a fun evening and we all had a nice time celebrating Hailey's fifth birthday. After everybody left, Hailey played her new Leapster game while we got Max ready for bed. Then I played a game of War with her new monkey cards that Nana and Papa got her. We had alot of fun. She won. Then I made a bed for Hailey in our bedroom. She was excited to get to sleep in her sleeping bag on the floor, something my parents let us do on our birthdays when we were kids.

Sounds like a great day! I'll never forget when Hailey wrapped the 2yr girl in tissue paper on her second birthday. You did a great job decorating. Looks so pretty. You also did a great job on the cake.
