Jack always puts his one hand up by his cheek when he claps.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Max asked to hold Jack and then Hailey came up to cuddle by them too.

Jack really liked it when Max would pretend to eat his fingers.

Jack kept putting his hand back up for more even after Max was done. Max would close his mouth tight and Jack would really try hard to push his fingers in.

As Jack was laughing, he leaned down burying his face in Max's chest and had his hands under his chin. Then he started making his "growling sounds" with his face still buried. Max thought Jack was tickling him and was laughing so hard.

Then Max looked up at me and said "Jack tickle me. Dat's silly. He is a silly baby." Hailey sure thought it was funny too that Jack was tickling Max.

Hailey and Max were sure giggling alot. Jack would really watch them every time they started laughing at each other.
Tickle fight!

This morning when Max came out of his bedroom, he looked and saw Hailey was not in her bed. He came out to the living room and asked me "Where's Haywee?" I told him that she was in our bed still sleeping. Then he said "I don't do dat cause I only sleep in my own bed." She had come in our room early this morning and I let her cuddle in bed with us. Max never wakes up in the middle of the night (unless he's sick and even then he never comes out of his bed, he just calls us or cries so we have never had to walk him back to his bed in the middle of the night. And if he wakes up too early, he just stays in his bed talking and usually falls back asleep. He only comes out of his bedroom when it's time to wake up. Hailey had a doctors appointment this morning for her five year well check. She did very good with the vision and hearing test. She answered all their questions very well and didn't have to have any shots. She was so happy when they told her she didn't have to have shots until she was 11 years old. She weighed 39.9 pounds and was 43 inches long. We went to McDonald's for lunch. The kids had alot of fun playing in the play area. There were no girls playing when we first got there. Hailey came back to the table and said "There's no friends here today." Her and Max went down the slide a few times while waiting for our food. They must have been really hungry. They sat down and ate all their food and then begged for more. We had to order another extra hamburger for Hailey. Max loves the apple dippers and ate them all first. Then he ate all his hamburger and some fries and chocolate milk too. Hailey ate all her fries, two hamburgers, and chocolate milk. Usually they eat a couple bites and then start begging to go play. But this time they sat down and ate all their food without saying a word. It was so quiet at our table. As soon as they were done eating, they were ready to go play again. Max made friends with some of the boys that were playing. Hailey was so happy when a girl finally showed up. She ran right up to her while she was still getting her shoes off and asked her to be her friend. They played together the rest of the time. They had fun hiding on the boys. As soon as we got home, Max put on his policeman dress up costume that Grandma Brenda made him from one of Papa Dan's old uniforms. He loves pretending to be a policeman and puts it on every day, sometimes wearing it all day long except when we go away. The other day he said "I need some tickets in my pocket. Can you get me some?" So I cut up a couple note cards for him. He always carries those and his keys in his pocket. He rides his car around the house saying it's his "police car". Every once in awhile, he decides I need a ticket and makes siren sounds as he rides his car up to me. Then he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a "ticket" saying "I gotta give you a ticket. Dere you go." Jack is really getting around good now. He isn't crawling yet but he can scooch backwards really well. He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. He is so close to taking off. He still doesn't roll much, mostly stays on his belly scooching backwards around the living room. He sometimes gets just a little frustrated when he can't get to something he wants just out of reach. I think it funny when he tries so hard to go get it and ends up going backwards instead. He only whines just a couple seconds and then tries again, but ends up scooching backwards every time he tries. He'll scooch backwards until he bumps into something. It's so cute when he bumps into something that he wants to play with and looks up to me with a big smile like he's so proud of himself or he's so happy he found something he can reach. The look he gives me is really cute. Max has a little rocking horse in his bedroom. We just got it back today from our neighbor, Connie, who sewed it cause it ripped after Max rode it last. Max was excited to get it back in his room and went to get on it. It ripped on Hailey around the same age so I told Max he was getting too big to ride on it. I still wanted to keep it out for Jack and also most of the time Hailey and Max have fun just pulling their rocking horses around the house pretending they are Aunt Meme's horses, Sammy and Nutmeg. Max asked why he was too big so I told him cause he's three years old. He replied I not three years old just three cause da horsey won't break for three. Just three years old. Is dat right?" He smiled big as he asked that, hoping I would agree and tell him it was ok to ride. Instead I took him to the bigger rocking horse and showed him that he could ride that one. (For some reason he never gets on the big one. I think cause him and Hailey are always riding and playing with them together, and since they have started playing this way since Max was very little, Hailey always gets the bigger one and Max always ends up with the small one. And they're both happy with it that way. They never dicuss who gets which horse. They just each grab their horse and start playing.) Max loved riding the big horse and thought it was fun. He rode it for awhile and then got his small horse and started pulling it around. Hailey soon joined him pulling her big horse around. It's funny cause they still both prefer to have "their" horse. Max only gets on the big horse now when he wants to ride, but when they are playing he wants the small one. At least this way, there is no fighting over who gets which horse. They played this until it was time to get ready for bed. After getting the kids into their pajamas, Max asked to hold Jack. He was pretending to eat Jack's hand and had him laughing. Then Hailey came up to cuddle by them too. After I took Jack to go lay him in his bed, Hailey and Max were tickling each other and laughing really hard. Then Max grabbed his blankie and lay right on Hailey's lap. She let him lay there for a minute and then said "You're too big. You're squishing me." Max replied "I are?" He was happy she called him big. We read a bunch of books together. Hailey and Max really liked the one Hailey brought home from the school library yesterday. They wanted me to read it twice. Then they got up and acted out the story. Hailey sure remembered alot of details. She was funny telling Max what to say and do. And he did everything she told him to. I enjoyed watching them as they acted out the whole story.

Jack likes to get up on his hands and knees and then rocks back and forth. He always scooches himself backwards until he bumps into something, many times getting stuck under furniture.

Hailey putting on a show and dancing for us.

Monday, February 23, 2009

This is going to be Hailey's costume for her dance recital. She put her it on backwards at first (in first picture). We still have to add the big bow in the back and a flower in the front and the yellow ribbon on the hat. It's going to be very cute when it's all done.

Bruce got Hailey ready and took her to school this morning. I got the boys up and got them ready and fed them breakfast. Then we left to go to the outlet malls again, so we could go to a couple of the ones we didn't have time for yesterday. We shopped until it was time to pick Hailey up from school. When we picked her up, her teacher said that she has really opened up this week and is talking alot and coming out of her shell. That's pretty much the same thing her Sunday school teacher said yesterday. When we got home from school, it only took about ten minutes for the kids to have a huge pile on the couch again. They played in thier pile most of the day. Hailey even picked Jack up off the floor and put him up on the couch with them. When I went over to see what she was doing, she had him propped up on some blankets and he was smiling at her. She said "Mommy, you can go away. He's ok. He just wants to play with us." Max and Hailey were really sweet with each other today. Hailey gave Max a toy that he really wanted to play with even though she had it first. Then he said "You nice Haywee. I wuv you." I loved listening to their conversations while sitting in their huge pile on the couch. Hailey was so sweet wtih him too telling him he was doing a good job and stuff. This afternoon, when Max woke up from his nap, he brought out a whole bunch of socks from his drawer. Then he sat down and practiced putting them on. He would put them on and take them off over and over. Then he tried putting many pairs on at the same time. He got about five on and then took them all off and thought it was neat the way they all stuck together, with each sock still inside the other like they were stacked. He sat there putting socks on and off for a good twenty minutes. After dinner, I had Hailey try on her recital dance costume. She was excited to put it on. She asked me to take pictures of her in it. She ran over to the rocking horse and started posing for the camera. The song they are singing for her recital goes "Give me a horse, a great big horse..." As soon as she was done posing for pictures, she decided she wanted to dance in it. She set up a stage at the end of the living room and set up chairs for Jack, Max, and I. She had her rocking horse next to her as she sang and danced to her song. She included the horse while doing her dance. It was really cute how she did the whole thing. Then she turned on the stereo and danced to the music. Max asked for a drink so Hailey pointed to the kitchen and said "You can buy drinks over there." I went and got him his milk and me a water. Then I gave him a pretend bag of popcorn (with Cheerios in it). I also decided to sneak in Hailey's room and get the flowers out of her toy box to give to her afterwards. (She really liked getting flowers at her last recital and always talks about how she's going to get flowers again at her next one.) I held one behind my back and gave one to Max and told him not to show Hailey until after she was done with her show. He copied me and hid his behind his back too. After Hailey did her dance again and took a bow, we handed her the flowers. She really loved that. She had the biggest smile on her face as Max and I pulled out the flowers to give to her. Tonight while I was rocking Jack and Max before bed (Max often climbs up to rock with Jack), Hailey came in also and climbed on my lap. We all rocked and sang songs. Jack's favorite song is "Twinkle twinkle Little Star". He smiles so big whenever we sing it to him. And lately he's been "singing" along with us. It's so cute. As soon as we start singing that song, he'll start saying "Ahh" the whole time we are singing it and sometimes he even says "Uppa" at the part "up above the world so high". Tonight he was really getting loud cause we were all singing loud. Hailey and Max both thought it was so funny to hear Jack "singing" so loud.

Jack loves to look at himself in the mirror. He'll sit there in front of it for such a long time and has so much fun playing with his reflection. And he thinks it's so funny.

Hailey and Max made a huge pile on the couch and Max somehow ended up getting buried in it. It took me awhile to notice he was under there. His face was even buried and then he peeked out at me.

All you could see was his head and his feet sticking out.

The boys both slept good last night and they were happy and acting themselves again this morning, so we decided we could go to church. I took Jack back to the nursing mothers room after taking Max and Hailey to their classes. There were two other moms back there and all our babies were the same age, with their birthdays being within two weeks of each other. We put them all down on a blanket on the floor together. It was cute watching them play. Hailey's Sunday school teacher talked to me after I picked Hailey up from her class. She said that Hailey has really blossomed in the last few weeks. She told me that Hailey just loves to talk and share her thoughts. Hailey really loves her teachers too. Before we leave church, she always wants to run back to the classroom and tell her teachers goodbye. Today, she stayed and talked to her teacher for awhile and told her all about dance class. She even sang her recital song for her. Then she tried to get Max to come say hi to her teacher but he was too busy playing in the hallway and didn't want to. She said "He's being so shy." While Bruce and I were getting lunch ready, Hailey and Max played together and made a huge pile on the couch. I looked around for Max and found him buried in the pile with only the top of his head and his feet sticking out. He layed there so still and quiet, I didn't even notice him at first. When I asked "Where's Max?" He'd say "I'm in da bathroom." Jack sure loves to sit and play in front of the mirror on the bathroom door. I love listening to him talk and laugh at his reflection. After eating lunch, we left to go to the mall to pick up Jack's pictures. We had to walk past the women's dresses to get to the elevator. Max loved looking at all the dresses and kept saying "Oh, I wike dis one!" or Dis one is fwitty (pretty), Mommy!" It was so funny how excited he got over the pretty dresses. Next we headed over to the outlet malls to shop for clothes for the kids and I. They had some great sales. We stayed until they closed and still didn't get to all the stores we wanted to go through.

Here's some videos that I took today.

Watching their "campfire" from inside their tent.

"Roasting marshmellows"

Hailey is eating hers off the stick.

Now offering me one.

Hailey made a bed on the floor with blankets for her and Jack to lay on while watching TV. She then picked a Baby Einstein video for them to watch.

When Max woke up from his nap, he layed down on the couch and stayed there the for the rest of the day. Besides his favorite blankie, he had to have his bear, his drumstick (couldn't find his other one), and two cars to lay with. For some reason, he loves his drumsticks and carries them around everywhere lately. He stayed on the couch like this until bedtime, holding onto his "special things".
Jack woke up a few times last night and was up at 6:30. Max was up by 7:00 and he woke up very grumpy. Jack was fussy too. They were both crying alot still by the time Hailey woke up. After awhile she said, "It must be a grumpy boy day. Not for the girls though." She ran to tell me, "I'm going to try to be nice all day, even when Max is grumpy." Then she ran back to Max and said "I love you Max... Max, you're not grumpy. You're nice." She helped him make a tent and that made him happy for awhile. They played in it pretending to go camping. Max got the Bumbo seat and put a yellow blanket in it saying it was his campfire. He used his drumstick as a "fire poking stick". Then Hailey said "Let's roast marshmellows!" She ran and got some pens, one for her and one for Max, and they pretended they were their sticks. She also brought back a couple "chairs" (stools) for them to sit on. It was funny to watch them pretend as they would eat the "marshmellows" off the "sticks" and then lick their fingers. They offered me some so I got to try some too. While I was getting lunch ready, Jack started crying. (He mostly just wanted me to hold him all day and would cry after being down for a few minutes.) Hailey noticed I was busy and picked him up. She started singing to him and had him laughing. He was happy for about ten minutes and then started crying again. When I finished what I was doing, I came over to get him. When she saw me coming, she said "I tried to make him happy for you. I tried really hard. But he was only happy for a little bittit (a little bit- mixes just a minute with a little bit. She's said it this way since she was two and now Max says it this way too). Now he just wants you. I really tried though." She handed him to me and telling me that he really likes the song she made up for him and that if he starts crying I should sing it to him. It went something like "God loves you. I love you. A-bump-a-bump-bump." We sang it to him a few times and right away he started smiling and laughing. When we stopped singing, Hailey said "See, he really does love that song." I put the boys down for a nap at 2:00. Max fell asleep right away. Jack only slept for about 15 minutes and woke up crying. Hailey had asked if she could watch a movie while Max took a nap since she didn't get to watch Clifford this morning. While she was looking through the videos, she said "I know how to make Jack happy. I'll pick a movie he'll like too. I know he'll like this one (Baby Einstein)."She made a bed on the floor for her and Jack to lay on while they watched TV. This was the first time Jack has sat and watched any TV. He was very interested the whole time and really liked it. Hailey talked alot to him during it, telling him what everything was. When Max woke up from his nap a few hours later, he came out and just layed on the couch the rest of the evening until bedtime. He didn't even want to come eat dinner with us. He said he didn't feel good.
