4th of July

Trying on Grandpa's boots

Max woke up early again around 7:30, and Hailey slept until 9:00. Max and I cuddled on the couch while we watched Max's tractor movie. Hailey and I played a game while Max took his nap this afternoon. When daddy got home, we left to go to grandpa's. First we stopped and got tacos from Taco Bell and took it over to eat with grandpa. We had a nice visit and the kids were very happy to see him. He's been camping with my parents so we haven't seen him in a while. We went to his house to take care of the garden a couple times while he was gone and Max was very upset when we left without seeing him. So he was very excited when we told him we were going to go see grandpa today. Max sat by Grandpa at the table while we ate our tacos. He scooched up right next to him and talked to him the whole time. After we ate we all went out to check the garden. Max and I snacked on fresh picked peas. The kids had fun running around the yard. We saw a couple of big rabbits run through the yard. Then grandpa and I went and sat on the porch. Max got his blankie and sat between us on the glider. Hailey showed off to grandpa singing some of her made up songs and dancing. Then Hailey asked daddy to play soccer. So they got the ball and kicked it around the yard for a while. When we got home, we got the van packed and the kids in their pajamas for fireworks tonight. Then we went outside to do some sparklers. The kids really enjoyed that. The neighbors were out sitting by the fire and asked us to join them. So we went over and visited until we had to leave for the fireworks. Hailey went right over and sat next to Connie. She really likes to talk to Connie and talked to her the whole time nonstop. Then we headed over to watch the fireworks. Since I can't handle walking far two nights in a row, we just parked in a parking lot further away to watch them. We got a great spot and could see them really well. And we didn't have to fight any traffic getting out. Hailey and Max both really enjoyed the show. Hailey was a little nervous at first covering her ears but soon relaxed and ended up really liking it. It only took us about five minutes to get home since we didn't get stuck in traffic.

Max woke up at 7:00 this morning just as Bruce was leaving for work. I had him lay in bed with me, but that didn't last very long because the garbage truck came, and then Max got all excited and wanted to see it. I opened the shade in our room so he could watch it. Then we went out to the couch and Max got his cars out right away. He likes to spread his blankie out over his lap and play with his cars on it. Hailey didn't wake up until 8:30. We watched Clifford while we ate our breakfast. Kimmy, Jared, and the boys came over to visit while our neighbor was working on their car. We ate lunch and then I had to leave for my doctors appointment. Vikki also came over and the kids stayed with them while I went to my appointment. Vikki and Kimmy took the kids for a walk down to 7/11 to get slurpies. They were just getting back when I pulled in the driveway. We let the kids play outside for awhile. Max was getting very grumpy having meltdowns over every little thing. We decided to let the kids swim in the pool. Around 3:00, I put Max down for a late nap cause he was just getting too tired and was crying alot. He wasn't too happy about going inside but fell asleep pretty quickly. Hailey and Jacob had fun running around the yard in their underwear. Bruce got home shortly after Kimmy and Jared left. We wanted to make taco salad for dinner so we had to run to the store for a couple things. We got donuts on the way home. We played outside with the big frisby and the kids loved it. It is very light so the kids could easily catch and throw it. While we were eating dinner, Nana and Papa stopped over to visit. The kids were so excited to see them. They've been camping so we haven't seen them in a while. Max wanted to get down from his highchair right away to play with Papa. When they were getting ready to leave, Max sang "My Heart Says I Love You" to Nana and Papa. It was so sweet.
